Johnny Tremain :: essays research papers
Imagine being back in the colony of Massachusetts before the Revolutionary war. As you walk down the streets of Boston, you meet a young man named Johnny Tremain. After listening to his story, you think of the different ways you could describe him. You could describe him by his looks, by his personality, and by the talents he portrays. His character is so interesting that it's hard to describe his skilled talents, his complex personality, and his adored physical features. As you remember the tale of his hardships and fate, you know that Johnny Tremain will stand in your mind forever. Standing alone on the wharf next to his magnificent house, you see a thin, light haired, light complected young man. There are many ways you can describe the way Johnny Tremain looks. You can tell by the way he stands, so proud, that he is around 15 years old. You can see that he's strong but he's also frightened. As you move your eyes towards what's behind him you notice that his hand is crippled and was probably burned. Your eyes meet his and they're a piercing blue. You are so struck by his looks you can't wait to go talk to him and find out about his personality traits. Johnny Tremain's personality was very fascinating, and it was most intriguing to read about how he changed from a bossy, impatient boy, into a thoughtful, patient gentleman. Even though he was a skilled worker, he was proud, and full of arrogance. But after his terrible tragedy, his rude character died in the birth and death room, and Johnny was reborn as a more patient and caring person. He still won't take pity from anyone, but on the inside he is probably crying out for help. Although he has no one to talk to, he does have special talents that help keep him going strong. Before Johnny burned his hand working on a sugar basin, he was a skilled silversmith. Imagine burning your right hand and losing many of your talents, such as writing or using an ax. After practicing, he painfully learned to use his left hand to use an ax. He also learned to legibly write, but it used to be better before his accident. Now Johnny diligently works for a newspaper called the Boston Observer. He regularly rides his horse, Goblin, and faithfully delivers the newspapers. Delivering notes for the British officers proved to be a profitable part of his routine. As the day ends, you have enjoyed spending time with Johnny.

john adams book critique essays
john adams book critique essays McCullough, David (2001). John Adams. Simon and Schuster. John Adams was an interesting outlook on the life of John Adams. It displayed his life in a most memorable way that gives the reader a true account of John Adams life and trials he had to overcome to make the United States what it is today. In reading this, we understand about the barriers our fore fathers had to rise above as well as the consequences they overcame for their freedom. Being born to a rich mother and a Deacon father on October 30, 1735 at his familys farm in Braintree, Massachusetts. Adams took to reading and writing early in life. He recorded daily everything that happened in a journal, which ended up being more than a four-volume autobiography. He loved his familys farm in Braintree, and visited there often as an adult. Harvard College was where Adams attended and it took several years to decide what career he wanted to follow. He chose to become a teacher in Worcester right after he graduated. Adams soon learned that the teachers life was not the life for him. His new job put him around many influential people that persuaded him to study law. After Adams was admitted to the Suffolk County Bar, he thought of himself as a fair and thoughtful lawyer. Boston was sinking into rebellion by the 1760s. The British Parliament began to pass taxes intended for the French and Indian War. The book talked about a series of measures taken to create an increasingly hostile environment in the Massachusetts port city. It seemed that people depended on Adams and his ability to draft their complaints even after he defended the troops that opened fire in the Boston Massacre. Adams was elected to serve at the First Continental Congress. Its no surprise that he impressed his fellow delegates. He nominated George Washington to command a new Continental Army. Adams traveled overseas to gain alliance with France and asked for assist...

Follow This Word Order for the Best French Sentences
Follow This Word Order for the Best French Sentences The order of words in a French sentence can be confusing, especially if you have, as we do, dual-verb constructions, object and adverbial pronouns, and negative structures. Here, were going to take a look at all of these and suggest the best positioning of words so that you dont end up with French sentences that make no sense. Dual-Verb Constructions Dual-verb constructions consist of a conjugatedà semi-auxiliary verb, such asà pouvoir andà devoirà (calledà modal verbsà in English),à vouloir,à aller,à espà ©rer, andà promettre, followed by a second verb in the infinitive. The two verbs may or may not be joined by a preposition.à Dual-verb constructions have a slightly different word order than compound verbs tenses. Word order is important because, if you get it wrong, the sentence will read like nonsense in French. Object and Reflexive Pronouns Object and reflexive pronouns are usuallyà placed between the two verbs and after the preposition(if any) that follows the conjugated verb. Adverbial pronouns are always placed in this position. Je dois me les brosser. à I need to brush them.Je vais te le donner. Im going to give it to you. Nous espà ©rons y aller. We hope to go there. Je promets de le manger. I promise to eat it.Il continuera ten parler. à Hell continue to talk to you about it. Sometimes the object pronoun should precede the first verb. In order to determine this, think about which verb is being modified. Why? Because in French, the object pronoun must go in front of the verb it modifies.à The wrong place may give you a grammatically incorrect sentence or may even change the meaning of the sentence. Consider the examples in this chart. Correct Pronoun Placement X Il aide nous travailler. X Hes helping work us. Il nous aide travailler. Hes helping us work. X Elle invite me venir. X Shes inviting to come me. Elle minvite venir. Shes inviting me to come. X Je promets de te manger. X I promise to eat you. Je te promets de manger. I promise you that Ill eat. Je promets de le manger. I promise that Ill eat it. Je te promets de le manger. I promise you that Ill eat it. Negative Constructions Negative structures surround the conjugated verb and precede the preposition (if any). Correct Negative Structure Placement Je ne vais pas tudier. Im not going to study. Nous nesprons jamais voyager. We never hope to travel. Je ne promets que de travailler. I only promise to work. Il ne continue pas lire. Hes not continuing to read. Pronouns Plus Negative Construction In a sentence with both pronouns and a negative structure, the order is: neà object pronoun (if applicable) conjugated verb part two of negative structure preposition (if any) object pronoun(s) adverbial pronoun(s) infinitive Correct Placement of Pronouns and Negative Structures Je ne vais jamais te le donner. Im never going to give it to you. Nous nesprons pas y aller. We dont hope to go there. Il ne continue pas y travailler. He isnt continuing to work there. Je ne promets pas de le manger. I dont promise to eat it. Je ne te promets pas de le manger. I dont promise you that Ill eat it. Je ne te promets pas dy aller. I dont promise you that Ill go there.

7 Ways Students Can Stay Productive During Summer Break
7 Ways Students Can Stay Productive During Summer Break If youââ¬â¢re a student, you long for summer vacation. School takes a lot out of you so itââ¬â¢s nice to have a few months to unwind. You get to catch up and focus on all of the things you donââ¬â¢t normally get to enjoy. But one of the biggest problems students face is staying productive during summer break. You spend 2-3 months having fun in the sun and when you return to class in early September, you end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. This happens to everyone. Youââ¬â¢re coming off your summer high and back into the real world, and you end up crashing and burning. Itââ¬â¢s a rough and transition. Itââ¬â¢s like starting a car thatââ¬â¢s been sitting in your garage for years. The engine is going to sound clunky and congested.à Or if you donââ¬â¢t drive, think of it like riding your bike. If you donââ¬â¢t ride your bike for a couple of years, the chain is going to rust and it will feel very tight and restricted when you finally take your bike ou t for a spin.à Fortunately, this can be avoided. All you need to do is keep your mind sharp and productive during summer break. If you can accomplish this, then you will make the transition in September very smoothly. That being said, here are 7 ways students can stay productive during summer break:Source:[#WBSA]
